Big Country District FFA Leadership Contest
On Monday night, November 16th, the Wylie FFA Chapter competed at the Big Country District FFA Leadership Contest in Cisco. There were seventeen FFA Chapters represented at the contest. Kaitlyn Parvin won second place in the Jr. FFA Creed Speaking and will represent Wylie at the Area Leadership Contest at Stephenville on Saturday, November 21st. The FFA Radio team placed first and will also compete at Area on Saturday. Team members were Miranda Gillum, Ryan Pease, and Tanner Swearingen. Other teams that placed, but will not advance were:

Congratulations Emma Lyle!
On Friday evening, Emma Lyle competed in the Pre-Area Auditions for the TMEA auditions. Emma competed against the top 12 chairs who advanced from the Region auditions back in October. Emma placed 6th chair and will go in January as first alternate to the Area auditions. If for any reason one of the top 5 chairs fail to appear at this audition, Emma will be called up to compete for the TMEA all state choir. Congratulations Emma!

The Big Country Library System (BCLS) and the Abilene Public Library are pleased to continue Tutor.com's Live Homework Help for the upcoming school year. Students in grades K-12, as well as adult learners, will benefit from Live Homework Help's online tutoring service. The service is free for anyone with an Abilene Public Library card.
Students connect to tutors for one-to-one homework help sessions in an Online Classroom. All tutors are certified teachers, university professors, graduate school students, students at accredited colleges, and professionals who are experts in their fields. Live Homework Help tutors have received a third party background check and have been certified through Tutor.com.
Students can connect to online tutors for free seven days a week from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

2010 National Merit Commended Students
We are very pleased to announce that each senior named is a Commended Student in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program. Over 1.5 Million students took the 2008 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Quailifing Test(OSAT/NMSQ) last October and entered the National Merit Program. This Commended Students placed in the top five percent of the 2010 competition. The students are:
